Whitmarsh, Richards, Penrod win ASL

After a bad start in the final prize race of the 2008 American Sailing League Championship Series, Patrick "Whitey" Whitmarsh and crew battled past The Skiff Sailing Foundation team in the last leeward mark to claim the $10,000 check

ASL

Whitey and crew of Kevin Richard and Joe Penrod proved blazing speed all weekend, winning more than half of the elimination heats.  What will the do with the money?  Richards says it will go back into the Skiff Sailing Foundation to help grow the local fleet and expand 18 foot skiff competition in the U.S. and the Bay Area.

Switch Team

The Switch Team of Cam McClosky, Danny Cayard and Erik Ahkus blew out their mainsail during a capsize prior to the championship race.  With the tatered top half of their main dangling from the rig, the crew stared the last rast and limped up the first beat before retiring to the beach at Crissy Field.
